Software Installation
RingShot is delivered pre-installed on the provided hardware system. This page covers the installation process in case you only bought the software + cameras.
RingShot is provided as a complete hardware + software package. The system arrives ready to use. You only need this guide if reinstalling or performing a system recovery.
System Requirements
RingShot requires specialized hardware to handle high-speed multi-camera capture. The system is provided with all necessary components pre-configured.
| Component | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Operating System | Windows 10/11 (64-bit) |
| USB Controller | Dedicated framegrabber card with 4 independent USB 3.0 controllers (included) |
| Processor | Modern quad core processor or above. Better processor = faster encoding speed in case you want to export lots of shots |
| RAM | 32 GB DDR4 minimum. More RAM = longer duration of the ring buffer |
| Storage | NVMe SSD 250GB. More storage = Store more exported shots |
| Display | 1920×1080 minimum; multi-monitor supported |
Standard USB 3.0 ports share bandwidth and cannot handle four simultaneous high-speed camera streams. The included framegrabber card provides four dedicated USB 3.0 host controllers — one per camera — to guarantee full bandwidth.
Installation Steps
-
Download or Locate Installer
The RingShot installer is provided on the system's desktop or on the included USB drive. If you need the latest version, contact us for a download link.
-
Run the Installer
Double-click
RingShot-Setup.exeand follow the on-screen prompts. Accept the license agreement and choose the installation directory (default:C:\Program Files\RingShot). -
Install Camera Drivers
If prompted, allow the installer to install the camera SDK drivers. These are required for the system to communicate with the high-speed industrial cameras.
-
Install LoRa Receiver Driver
The TriggerPod LoRa USB receiver requires a virtual COM port driver. This is typically installed automatically, but if the receiver is not detected, install the driver manually from the
drivers/folder. -
Launch RingShot
Open RingShot from the Start menu or desktop shortcut. On first launch, the software will scan for connected cameras and configure the default layout.
First Launch
When you start RingShot for the first time, the software will:
- Detect all cameras connected via the framegrabber card
- Create a default 2×2 viewport layout
- Set the default recording mode to 720×540 @ 506 FPS
- Scan for a TriggerPod LoRa receiver on available COM ports
If cameras are not detected, see the Troubleshooting section for cable and driver diagnostics.
Updating RingShot
To update to a newer version, simply run the new installer. Your settings and saved recordings will be preserved. It is recommended to close RingShot before running the updater.
