Playback Settings

Control playback speed, step through frames, and configure automatic slow-motion sections for hands-free replay.

Instant Replay

When recording is stopped (manually or via trigger), the ring buffer content is immediately available for playback. There is no loading time because RingShot uses a keyframe-free internal format where every frame can be accessed independently.

This means:

Playback Controls

The top row of the Playback Settings panel contains three buttons:

Control Description
Pause Playback / Continue Pauses the current playback. When paused, the button changes to "Continue" to resume. Pausing enables the frame stepping buttons.
Prev Frame Step back one frame. Only active when playback is paused.
Next Frame Step forward one frame. Only active when playback is paused.

Playback Speed

The Playback Speed slider controls how fast the footage plays back. The range is 0.01x to 2.0x, with the current value shown next to the label.

Speed Range Use Case
1.0x – 2.0x Normal or fast playback for quick overview
0.1x – 0.5x Slow motion for observing release mechanics and limb movement
0.01x – 0.1x Ultra slow for detailed frame-by-frame analysis

Autoslowdown

Autoslowdown lets you mark a section of the footage that should play at a slower speed while the rest plays at the normal playback speed. This is useful for automatically slowing down the key moment (e.g. the release) without manually adjusting the speed every time.

Requires Trigger App License

The Autoslowdown feature is only available with a Trigger App license. If you don't see this option in the Playback Settings panel, check your license under Help → Upgrade License.

Settings

Control Description
Enable Autoslowdown Toggles the autoslowdown feature on or off. When enabled, the slowdown settings section appears below.
Slowdown Speed Slider from 0.01x to 1.0x that controls how slow the marked section plays. Lower values mean slower playback for that section.
Save with slowdown When enabled, the slowdown region is applied to the exported video file. If disabled, the exported file plays at a uniform speed regardless of the autoslowdown setting.

How It Works

  1. Enable Autoslowdown

Check "Enable Autoslowdown" in the Playback Settings panel. The slowdown controls will appear.

  2. Set the Slowdown Speed

Adjust the Slowdown Speed slider to control how slow the marked section plays (e.g. 0.10x for 10% speed).

  3. Shoot and Review

When the trigger fires and playback starts, the selected section automatically plays at the slower speed while the rest plays normally.

  4. Optionally Save with Slowdown

If you want the exported video to include the slowdown effect, check "Save with slowdown" before saving.

Hands-Free Workflow

Combine Autoslowdown with the trigger system and Auto Save for a fully automated loop: trigger → slow-motion replay of the key moment → save → back to recording. No user interaction needed.
